Since anti-dementia drugs are not doing well and research says Alzheimer Disease is incurable what else can we do? What if we could train our brains to keep dementia at bay?

Alzheimer Disease is rising as baby boomers age. 6.5 million Americans are living with the disease today. The numbers are expected to double by 2050 unless there is a breakthrough.

There are some new studies that suggest positive lifestyle changes may stave off Alzheimer’s, a form of dementia.

The Lancet Commission identified 12 modifiable risk factors for prevention, intervention and care. New studies suggests brain training as a possible preventative measure for prevention.

According to the Alzheimer Society of Canada, 3 ways to exercise the brain include, Play, Cross Train, and Learning.

Play - games to increase memory, speed and people skills to name a few.

Cross-train - throwing darts, reading, and listening to podcasts are suggested.

Learn - Take up a new hobby or learn a new language.

I also recommend meditation, drink coffee and tea and get enough sleep.

2 new studies suggest keeping your eyes and liver healthy too.

Eating right, taking high quality micro-nutrients and exercising can also very likely help to reduce or prevent dementia.

Bottom line, be ambitious about your overall health.
